“What you heard from me, keep as the pattern of sound teaching, with faith and love in Christ Jesus. Guard the good deposit that was entrusted to you—guard it with the help of the Holy Spirit who lives in us.”
2 Timothy 1:13-14
While the Living in Love and Faith initiative has come to an end, the work behind it will continue, with a new House of Bishops group being formed to carry it forward.
In response to this, and right across the country, many clergy and lay people are expressing a desire to be served, licensed and overseen by a diocesan bishop who publicly teaches and upholds a biblical doctrine of marriage and sexual ethics set out in the doctrines of the Church of England.
The House of Bishops has recently indicated that it does not currently consider provision of this kind to be necessary.
We want to be able to advocate the need for you to have a diocesan bishop who teaches the bible faithfully and upholds the historic and apostolic faith of the Church of England.
Can you help us advocate for you?
Our intention is to help the bishops better understand the extent and importance of this desire among clergy and lay people. Our hope and prayer is that the House of Bishops, recognising this need, will be willing to make such provision.
I would welcome an initiative of the House of Bishops to guarantee:
…teaches, defends and holds to the apostolic faith as set out in the doctrines of the Church of England.
